SPIS follows British National Curriculum with modification to cater to the needs of our students and society. For primary school programme, it follows the Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 curricula.

Tests and assessments

Year 1 phonics screening check

The check will take place in June when children will read 40 words out loud to a teacher. Their teacher will assess whether he or she needs extra help with reading. If any child doesn’t do well enough in the check he or she will have to do it again in Year 2.

Key stage 1

Key stage 1 tests cover:

  • English reading
  • English grammar, punctuation and spelling
  • maths

The tests will take place in Year 2. And the teacher shall provide the assessment reports to parents.

Key stage 2

Children will take the British national tests when they reach the end of key stage 2. The tests cover

  • English reading
  • English grammar, punctuation and spelling
  • Maths

The tests last less than 4 hours. The teachers will release the results together with an assessment report.
